In this event we learned about “nidan” This is the diagnose, how an ayurvedic physician approaces a patient and sees a disease How many angles are seen before an ayurvedic doctor makes a diagnose. The Ayurveda Academy of Yoga in Daily Life is a project of The System of Yoga in Daily Life and we are carrying out basic trainings for self assessment for understanding the ayurvedic principles and the whole approach of ayurveda, for understanding our nature in a better way We are very happy to have a collaboration with an ayurvedic college from India, Pune, Wagholi, BHARATIYA SAKSKRITI DARSHAN Trust Our teacher is Dr. Sushrut Sardeshmukh He is explaining in a wonderful, very professional, and very spiritual way all of the ayurvedic shastras and approaches as far we can understand them This is vaidya Sushrut Sardeshmukh It gives me a pleasure today visiting the ashram here in Vienna for Yoga in Daily Life First and foremost my respects are for the lotus feet of Bhagawan Dhanwantari At the same time I would like to convey my respects to the holy feet of Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami MaheshwaranandaJi and also the coordinator of this whole course, of the Ayurveda Academy of Yoga in Daily Life, Ms. Claudia Matejovsky, Muktamani We are here today in order to complete the 4th module which was empasizing on “nidan”. (Ayurvedic dyagnosis.) This course was designed basically for the common people aiming firstly all the people from the Ashram who are very much eager to know the ayurvedic basics because they are already introduced to yoga by respected SwamiJi We aim them to know the basics from ayurveda which is a science of life To help themselves, counteract or assess their daily problems especially related to their health It also helps them to understand the basics of diet therapy, what food they should eat, the sattwic food correlated with the ayurvedic principles like tri-doshas, sapta-dhatus. In “nidan” we basically try to emphasize, or focus on the classical ways of dyagnosis or evaluation like the three-fold method or the eight-fold method. This would not help them to do anything professionally as vaidyas but to know what they are practicing is in the right track or not. We also help them to understand some basics of the “dinacharya” and “ritucharya” (Daily and seasonal routine) in which they would learn how to have a proper lifestyle and some principles from the diet therapy, in order to have a very good and healthy diet. This course and especially the module no.4, the “nidan” will not help them to diagnose anything by themselves, but there are a few things one should try to check with him or her every day in order to see whether they have a normal health or something different is going there. So that they can approach a vaidya or a doctor for a special consultation. Keeping this in our mind we helped them with some of the basics from ayurveda to just have a self awareness and self evaluation at a very primary, basic stage. I wish them all very much success ahead Thank you so much for inviting me to this beautiful place to the Ashram Hari OM This is just a first impression that you make through “darshan”. (Observation) Is there any abnormal thing that you notice when you look at the person first For example you see there is some protrusion, some bulge anywhere on the body Is there any redness anywhere? Is there any deformity you can see on that person? Like this this is the first reason for having “darshan”. “Sparshan” is, once you have understood something, there are some characteristics that you can access by palpation (touching) or percussion (tapping). Persussion means, when we check the abdomen, we try to do the “nada pariksha”. Because that will help us to undersstand some of the intricaties in that specific examination style And “prashna” is: we ask. So you can see something, you feel something, and confirm something. After the long hours of learning and practice we had a sattwic vegetarian dinner. After the dinner we visited the Peace Tree near the Ashram, in Schweizergarten. This Peace Tree was planted in 2005 on the occasion of the opening of the Guruji Ashram by VishwaguruJi and the mayor of the 3rd district of Vienna, Mr. Hohenberger. We ended our day with a Peace Prayer under the Holy Tree. Subscribe to our Ayurveda Academy channel by clicking on the “A” logo on the left!
