COVERGIRL: Full Face First Impressions Makeup | Testing New Spring Makeup Collection (2018)

What is up guys it’s Bonnie and welcome back to the channel! First off if you haven’t been here before then welcome And I hope that you decide to stick around and subscribe! If you’re already subscribed then I’m sorry I’ve been m.i.a for the last 4 weeks. I really just kind of got burnt out I really just kind of needed to take a step back and take a break. You may already know if you follow me on snap that I do all the editing for my channel and my husband’s and we upload 5 times a week on his channel, so I Get pretty burnt out sometimes I’m definitely gonna work on trying to managing that though because I can’t just be going M.I.A. on you guys for like four Or five weeks so apologies for that But I feel like today’s video is a good video to come back to it’s something new and different, something I’ve never done on the channel. So enough Rambling, I’m just gonna get into what this video is about. So if you follow me on snapchat and Instagram you know that I was Lucky enough to receive this big generous PR package from Covergirl. For me, This was a big-ass deal because I’ve never gotten a PR package this big or definitely not from I make-up brand of their caliber So to say I was excited would be a major understatement. I’m gonna try to show you guys the Package, but it’s like bigger than my upper body, so we’ll see how this works out on camera I’ll show you some footage that I took before this so you can get a better view of the whole box Okay, so you can kinda see it, right? It plays a little video and it has three different drawers; one says lips, one says eyes, And one says skin. And when covergirl reached out to me to send me some products I never in a million years Thought it would be an entire collection and that the collection will be this big so shout out to covergirl And thank you for this amazing generous package I definitely will be forever grateful for this experience. So in this collection They had everything from color correcting concealers, misting setting spray, new face powders, Luminizers , cream highlighters that are SO bomb, I’m not even kidding you! They have brow pencils, lip products (like so many lip products) glosses, matte lipsticks, liquid eyeliners, mascaras.. like Literally everything you need and everything in this box, in this collection Retails for no more than $9.99. So in the look that I’m wearing right now I used as many products as I could from this box and got a complete feel for how They apply, how they blend out, how they wear; you name it. I’ve had this look on for a few hours now. Only a few of the products I’m wearing are not covergirl. This box didn’t come with a Foundation so my foundation is Clinique and just a couple of the other products that I used weren’t covergirl And it was because they weren’t included in this box. Long story short I was literally blown away! Prior to this I didn’t own many covergirl products I own drugstore products, but not many covergirl products And I honestly would re-up on most of this stuff that I use today if I ran out I honestly would go out and buy it again, so let’s just get into the products. I will do some swatches for you guys and some close-ups I do have some demo footage from the look that I did today as well. So the first product that I tried and I’m gonna Talk about is this true blend pre touching palette It’s a color corrective concealer palette. Right out the gate a small complaint or maybe not a complaint, but like a wish I wish this had like a salmon or a peach color. In my opinion if it had a peach tone Concealer this would have been perfect So I only used the green My face is broken out a little bit right now not from any of this stuff, from some stuff I used in the last week just testing out new products and broke my face out. So I had some redness And I used the green shade to cover that up. Yellow you’re gonna use for blue tones and purple you’re gonna want to use to cancel out yellow tones & anywhere There’s dullness in the face I didn’t really need either of these. I applied this with a small concealer brush and blended it out with a random Beauty sponge and I honestly loved it it covered up really well It was not completely opaque and overpowering like of a green. Sometimes I feel like the what the hell are they called? The hell are they called?… like the LA girl Pro concealer I feel like it’s too… I don’t know thick opaque or too saturated I don’t know, but this was just sheer enough to where it canceled out the redness But it didn’t leave you with like a green tinge and it blended out really well but it still stayed & didn’t like disappear when I blended it so my Foundation went over it perfectly and I will be using this again if I need it and like I said my only complaint is that There’s no peachy tone so for my under-eye circles I use a peach tone, and I had to use a different concealer, but if this had a peach It would have been perfect, and this is one of the only higher priced item items out of the collection This is $9.99. So the next item we’re going to talk about that I used today is the vitalist healthy concealer pens this comes in six shades And this is all of them, this one being the deepest, so that’s kind of limiting No, that’s really limiting actually. I used the lightest one or one of the lightest ones out of the six I did try another one You’ll see it in the demo, but it was like damn near the color of my foundation So it didn’t make a whole lot of difference, and it was a little more peachy tone So this is a pen and you twist it up. You’ll hear clicking For the makeup to come out of the pen And then you just brush it on so obviously For yourself this would be fine, using it on other people wouldn’t be sanitary. So the first thing I noticed was the consistency cuz you know I am a Tarte Shape Tape girl through and through You know tart shape tape is thick as hell like a super opaque, Super thick so that’s kind of what I’m used to you know that full full full coverage I didn’t feel like this was gonna be like that That’s not what I expected, but this was very thin in comparison so at first I was like… OH S%*#, so I did paint on the two colors And I layered a little bit more just because I was scared to not have the full coverage, but it really blended out Beautifully like all of these products seem to give you some sort of like Luminous feel now that’s not to be confused with shimmer. There’s no shimmer in any of the regular face products There is a Luminizer, but that’s the only thing with shimmer But for some reason these just gave me a really glowy Beautiful feel and it did have good coverage even though It was a thinner consistency and these are retailing for $8.99 so would I use this again? Absolutely! I would use this for like a daily concealer. Just like a easy out-the-door makeup look When you’re not going for full full glam I mean I feel like I went for full glam today and used this so you can probably get away with it for that Too, but yeah, I would definitely Purchase this again if I ran out and I would definitely say if you are not into the heavier super thick concealers this may be one that you want to give a try so the next thing I’m gonna talk to you guys about that I Did use today are these vitalists healthy powders, they only come in four shades They’re not that deep they come in this shade classic ivory, which is this one? This is one of the ones I use today for my highlight area buff beige I mixed that with the classic ivory to do the rest of my face and my neck area, then you have a medium beige That’s a little deeper and a warm beige so again. That’s Super limiting on the shade range for those powders. I mean that’s just super limiting I don’t know what else to say about that so the shade range on that item and the concealers is a bit of a Disappointment as I’m sure their foundation range is much bigger than that so after I blend it out my concealer I had to set it I like to bake so I use my regular Coty airspun powder and then as I said I used the lightest shade to Buff away my bake and then I use both together and just mix them on the brush and buffed it You know to set the rest of my face, and I was pretty impressed It’s not quite my maybelline superstay Powder I gotta be hundred percent honest, but for a lighter makeup I did like it. I’m just so used to that full cake face like I’m sorry. That’s just what I like That’s what I’m comfortable in but this was good like I feel like it covered well and like I said I feel like I don’t Know, everything, all these products they kind of just give you a little bit of a healthy glow I don’t know why they’re not shimmery, but this powder is Extremely silky to the touch, it’s so smooth, and rich feeling when you apply your brush to it no matter How you pick it up. It is a very dusty Compact powder so there’s a lot of fallout in the in the compact itself and these are another item retailing at $8.99 the next item is the luminous gold glow healthy illuminizer. I did not use these I swatched them I don’t really use illuminators under my foundation. I have way, too Much texture and my skin to be putting something like this under my foundation Um it usually doesn’t work out well for me. You usually see all my pores, all my ehh… bad Yeah, it usually just emphasizes any flaws for me So I usually skip products like this. They did seem like they could be really really really good options for people with more flawless skin that just Wants something to make them have a healthy glow almost like a CC cream type of deal That’s kind of the vibe I get from this is just like a healthy glow not really any Coverage or anything like that I mean you can probably put it under your foundation if you have flawless skin You could probably do that as well I did not personally try it out though like I said. I did swatch it and I’ll show you that. They come in two shades Daybreak and Sunkist and those retail at $8.99. The next thing that I’m gonna Talk to you about is probably my favorite thing from this whole damn box I’m so excited about these gel highlighters. Whatever, whatever the hell consistency They are they’re like a gel… like almost like a gel liner… they’re like a gel it’s almost like a mousse, but a little thicker type of deal anyway this was my Favorite product. So this is one of the items that actually looks like it caters to every skin tone They have one from a super super light white highlighter, one with a little more of a like a white gold, then you get into like a champagne color, a peachy color, a more Bronzy color, and like a kind of like a deep gold color. so these, You know, I would recommend for everybody to run out and try these if you can get your hands on the actual name for these Is the Vitalist healthy glow highlighters I use the shades Star Shine and a Moonbeam And I mixed them together this white gold one reminded me a lot of the tone of the Amrezy Highlighter. Listen… I was blown away! This is one of the higher-end items that retails at $8.99. I’m telling you It’s worth every penny. I think these highlighters rival any gel highlighters you’ll find in Sephora in my opinion. These are comparable to that I just took a bit out and put it on the back of my hand and then just took my finger and kind of Warmed it up a little bit on my on the back of my hand and then just pressed it in and the glow was like unbelievable I actually snapchated about it yesterday when I was kind of testing stuff out and it dried down to a powdery finish I did that on top of the layers of Foundation, concealer, bronzer, powder, and it still came out flawless It was very easy to blend and I said it with my amrezy highlighter just cuz I’m extra I didn’t even need to though But it was just that extra little pop and I was excited to see how a highlighter was sitting on top of it and honestly I like the Amrezy Highlighter better on top of this one and again that one is Moonbeam. So yeah out of everything these were my favorites, so there’s everything for the skin drawer I’m gonna move on to eyes. So there are three new eyeshadow palettes And they’re part of this collection. This one is the True Naked Smokey Shadow Palette And these are the Katy Kat Palettes in Hot and Cool I did not use this palette yet. It has mostly shimmers and a couple of satins I wasn’t really going for a full-on smokey eye look and so I have not used this one yet so I cannot speak to it. This retails at $9.99 though. What I can say is I was impressed by both of these I use shades from both of these on my lid, my inner corner, my outer corner and along my lower lash line and all of them blended out just as beautifully and seamlessly and Easily as the high-end palette that I was using for my crease & transition etc There are mostly shimmers in these palettes and some satins There’s really no true mattes so I did have to use a different palette I use the Huda Mauve palette for my crease color and my transition color But that’s it everything else was from these palettes. They picked up really well. I did use Fix+ to pick up my lid color just cuz I wanted it super intense. In my experience in the past, like I haven’t recently bought Any drugstore eyeshadow Palettes because back before you know I was shopping at Sephora and Ultra back when I was a lot younger And I would buy drugstore eyeshadow palettes, I will be very disappointed like in the Pigment, in the way it picked up, in everything. So I was really impressed with these. They were very very soft, very smooth Shimmery and I think for the money they are great pickups. Especially for like lid colors, highlight colors, These are really great eyeshadows and both of these retail at $9.99 I guess more stuff retailed at $8.99 & $9.99 then I realized, but still that’s not bad. I mean when you think about it You can get like a Anastasia palette for like $40. Most high-end palettes or palettes in Sephora gonna run you anywhere from $30 to $200 damn dollars these days So if you’re not into spending $40, $50, $60, $80 dollars on an eyeshadow palette This is definitely a great pick up. I wouldn’t lie to you; the proof is in the pudding You see my makeup look, you wouldn’t be able to tell that I didn’t do this with high-end makeup At least I hope you can’t lol Next thing I probably should have talked about this before the last item but this is the Covergirl Lid Lock Up Eyeshadow Primer This, I will buy again hands down. This retails at $7.99 and it’s worth every penny. I’m telling you this gave my Urban Decay primer potion to run for its money And you know I use that like faithfully. So when I applied it I decided to just try it with the wand only I typically apply my Urban Decay primer potion with the wand and then blend it out with my finger I didn’t want to do that with this. I wanted to see how well the wand worked out It’s a basic doe foot applicator Just like a lipstick and the consistency and texture is a lot like the Urban Decay primer potion But it’s like Creamier, thinner and it applied really really well with the wand. Like I didn’t have to use my finger which is nice because I got these long ass nails and It’s kind of hard to like get all up in there and blend it out. It blended out really well You know, I took it all the way up to my brow bone there was no streakiness or anything it really blended out Seamlessly. As it started to dry down (because I wanted to let it set before I put eyeshadow on) I let it set for like I don’t know more Maybe more than 15 minutes. It started like feeling like it was tightening my eyelids like that shit felt like it was really really Priming my eyelids. When I went to apply shadows they applied flawlessly. I couldn’t tell the difference between Applying it on my Urban Decay primer potion Which costs a lot more than $7.99 this will probably be my new eyeshadow primer I will definitely run my ass to Walmart or wherever I could Ulta wherever I gotta go and pick this up I recommend for everyone to try this at least once if you’re not blown away I’ll be surprised. The next thing I want to talk about is the Peacock Flare Mascara They come in five shades, but they sent me two; Extreme Black and Waterproof black I used the waterproof And if you are part of my channel you know that I really do not like spending my money on mascara So I’m never like blown away to where I want to spend $30 multiple times a year on Mascara. So this one was actually a good one and I would purchase this again or recommend it it retailed at $7.99 That’s not bad really can’t beat that I thought it made my eyelashes look very full very lengthy And it didn’t clump all up and make them look thick and nasty because I hate that And I did like a wand. It was really really long and it got through and separated all my lashes I used this on the top and the bottom not much more to say about mascara. It’s a good one I would give it a try. Next up are these cute little brow pomades. The official name is Easy Breezy Brow Sculpt and Set Brow Pomade. These come in four shades And they retail at $8.99. The shades are soft blonde, honey brown, rich brown and soft brown. So mine are not Labeled like for some reason… well they’re labeled but they don’t have like the name on it So I’m not sure which one I used I think judging by the color I had to have used honey Brown I really didn’t think it looked like a honey brown. I thought it looked more like a taupe to be honest I don’t know if you can see that, but it didn’t look like honey brown to me Yeah, so that’s got to be the one that I used. Right out the gate You would think this is not a lot of product, and it’s not but a tiny bit goes a long long way This is very pigmented. It’s very rich. It’s very soft. It’s not like a stiff brow product So you literally only need to tap the brush into it. Speaking of brushes, it comes with its own little Precision brow brush. I wasn’t blown away by the brush But I did use it and was successful with it, so I guess I don’t really have anything bad to say about it I’m usually using the Mac brow brush which is super precise and stiff. This was a little softer But it was pretty precise. If you don’t want to have to have a brush for everything… I don’t, I don’t know? So I felt like this was okay… I don’t really use brow pomade maybe that’s why I wasn’t like over the moon about this It worked well in comparison with the Anastasia. I feel like they’re totally different like this one’s so soft, but it’s pigmented I haven’t tested like wiping it off I mean it hasn’t bled or smudged and I’ve had this on for hours, and it’s still set right in place I was able to shape my brow really well with it, if you need a new brow product And you’re not gonna spend a lot of money I will give them a shot they come in a decent shade range And I do like the packaging it reminds me of like, I want to say, the benefit brow product even though I haven’t tried itI feel like it reminds me of that. And since we’re on the topic of brows, I’ll move on to the next product which are these brow pencils These are the Easy Breezy Brow Micro-Fine and Define Pencil I cannot believe I just said that. They retail at $6.99 which is not bad at all um They’re very very soft these coming four shades as well They’re the same shades as the pomades they so they coordinate. Now in the brow pencil I use the shade soft brown. This reminds me of the Anastasia brow pencils And I’m sure a lot of brow pencils are like this now. You know the Anastasia Brow Wiz that was like one of the first like this. At least I think it was. So on one side you got your makeup It’s very very small, very precise I liked how sharp it was when I first applied it like when it was brand new. As it got more dull It was so soft. I couldn’t really get it precise like hair strokes So that was a little bit of a complaint. If it was a little more of a stiffer product I could have got a little more precise But it did make doing brows a lot faster. These two products together, like if you watched my brow video… I know y’all were like this bihh is crazy She probably sits there for an hour drawing in hairs with with brow powder And it does take me a while so if I was just trying to have some Brows really quick (cuz I really don’t have much) this would definitely be something that I will grab and use to be out the door Really quick. And then on the other side you have a spoolie and again these retails for $6.99 So it might be something you want to try and you know it won’t break the bank. And then the last thing from the eyes Drawer from the collection is these Get In Line Liquid Liners And they retail at $7.99. So these come in five shades. They come in Teal Crystal, Bold Brown, Black Crystal, Black Vinyl and Matte Black I use the matte black and I loved it lately I’ve been using a liquid liner from TheBalm And I’ve been loving that. I put that on my snap and a couple of you went out and grabbed it. This one I would Recommend just as much and you can probably pick it up at Walmart It was super matte, super precise went on easy and stayed in place I had to scrub it off actually even with the my Micellar Water or whatever Yeah This is the was a really good one especially for the price. You do need to shake these up Really good before you use them, otherwise it was like some weird-ass liquid at least on the teal color, so yeah There’s a brown, a teal, a black with like a shimmer in it, a regular black and a matte black So that’s a pretty good shade range. I swatched a couple of them. I didn’t swatch the brown one I should right now because I’m interested in how that… Oh wow, it’s like super rich and pigmented I know what’s on there looking kind of like it’s black But it’s really not it’s like a very rich Brown. So I definitely would use that on a day where I want a more subtle Liner and again, those are $7.99 So I know there are cheaper options for drugstore liquid liners But I really like the way this one stayed put and it applied really easily It wasn’t runny at all, which that shit drives me nuts, when you know… it’s a good liner when it sets but it’s hard to apply because of the consistency. So I really like the consistency of these and for some reason something about packaging I don’t know I like that too. And then something that I somehow forgot to mention that I actually used today is from the Skin drawer, I keep calling it this like the drawer, but this is from the skin part of the collection It is the Look Lock Up All Day Setting Mist. I used this after Fix+ because I felt like just by the name is sounded like the Urban Decay All Nighter And that does not replace my fix+ either I would also spray that after fix+ so that is what I did and I love the results to be honest this retails at $9.99. So the description of this is it’s designed with a micro fine mist for a weightless barely-there feel it prevents makeup from smudging or settling into fine lines and works hard to keep your glam in place as you do to apply it. I Have really bad fine lines In my forehead, and I don’t see them and my makeup isn’t sliding or anything like that So I’m really really happy with this. I would buy it again for one I loved the smell. It smells like some kind of refreshing cucumber water or something I don’t know. It’s like a very light like cucumbers or pears or something just very very refreshing and just Hydrating. It sprays pretty straight And it looks very really direct. It’s not like a burst of mists like fix+ as it mists your face It’s not like a strong shot of mist. It does feel like a light mist. It’s actually so light as it hits your face I must have sprayed it like 15 times, that might be a slight exaggeration But I know it was at least 10. Anyways, I will buy this again. So far I’ve used it twice. I used it yesterday when I was just playing around with stuff, and I used it today And I am completely satisfied by this. I have tried other drugstore setting sprays And I didn’t like them. This one was a good one for me. And last But not least we’re gonna move on to the lips part of the collection which is like the biggest part It has the most variety. So for this look today, I use two lipsticks from the Queen Collection They’re called Major Shade Liquid Matte Lipsticks. I really think that name is cute I think it’s very like, with the times and trendy like… I don’t know I just think that was well played. These ones retail a $8.99 then they come in twelve different shades. The shades I have on right now are Rebel on the outer part of my lip and Insider for the middle. They remind me a little of the NYX Soft matte lip creams I think they’re called. I haven’t used them in a long time, but that it kind of reminds me of that And they smelled good too like a vanilla-y Something like that… I don’t know… When you apply them I would recommend applying a little bit of a thicker coat then trying to do like a sheer coat and build up because it takes A long time with drying in between and you get like some splotchiness that way. I would just go straight in with a thicker Layer and let that dry and then touch up any spots you need to and they ombre’d really really well They layer really beautifully and I had no problems I would absolutely honestly, like I would wear this combination like all the time. So for a drugstore liquid lipstick I was completely impressed by these. And for these they have a really big variety in shade range These are the nudes for the Queen collection matte lipsticks Then you have a red, a pink and an orange.; very vibrant colors, and then you get into some really cool vampy colors You’ve got like a purpley magenta shade it kind of reminds me of like MAC’s Heroine if you can think back to that That’s what it reminds me of. Then you have more of a grape-y bluish color purple I’m not really good at describing color so I apologize, but it’s more of like a true purple Then you have a what looks like a beautiful deep like Burgundy, deep red, kind of like MAC’s Sin. Then this is like either a brown or brownish red And then this one looks jet-black so that’s pretty cool for drugstore brand especially with a matte lipstick because you know everybody don’t like nudes. Even though I’ve been wearing a Lot of nudes lately. I didn’t use to, I used to wear nothing But like grey lipstick everyday. Next we got the Katy Kat lip glosses And these are such cute packaging like and they come in a really wide range of shades as well Everything from a straight white, red, purple tone, cyan blue… Some of them like this one even has like a little sheen to it I don’t know if you come really if it’s gonna pick it up on camera But that one has like a little metallic-y-ness to it I just made that up. Then there’s like a shimmery nude and a bunch of colors These retail is $6.99 and I have not tried these on my lips yet I’m gonna swatch the white one right now for you guys because This would be the most the one that I would be the most skeptical about like its opacity so we’re gonna test that. Put it to the test right now. I mean That’s pretty good to me for a $6.99 drugstore lipstick Obviously everybody may not want to wear chalk white lip gloss But I can see you using this to ombre out a look or whatever; a creative look this would be great Judging just off of the white one, I imagine they’re all a really good opacity and pigment and saturation. So that’s important and I feel like that’s impressive for a drugstore Lip gloss at $6.99 and also the packaging is super cute if you care about that sort of thing. So yeah, If you’re into lip glosses, like I recently in the last I don’t know six months, ever since I started getting my lips done I have fallen in love all over again with lip glosses of all different textures and Thickness and whatever like I’m just in love with any sort of gloss or like lip conditioner. And to the touch this one is really Creamy, and it smells really good. Smells like cake or something like a cupcake. Check those out if you have not already. Then this was Another thing that I did not try it. It’s the Melting Pout Glitz It’s top coat. This comes available in two shades Golden Girl and Double Platinum They send me the shade Double Platinum So this says it can be worn alone or layered on top of any lip color for an instant shot of glamour So I’m gonna go ahead and just swatch it for you guys right now. Ooh, It’s like super liquidy So that’s basically like a very sheer shimmer thin gloss and that one feels super super creamy It’s not really thick at all. It’s not runny either though, so I could see putting that on top of something I will honestly be interested to try this for a few things like a glossy lid look. This Retails at $6.99 so if you like this type of thing lip toppers, then you might want to try this one out Oh, and I’ve also forgot to mention that I used those Gel highlighters as an eyeshadow base to do the cut crease under my lid color, and it worked so good so again That was my favorite product and beyond all the other reasons that I gave you what I loved it, being able to use it for Something else on top of a highlighter was like an added bonus to me. And last but not least we have the Melting Pout Matte Lipsticks. These come in twelve different shades. They’re supposed to give high-impact super-rich color with a lightweight matte finish I have not tested these on my lips yet either But I will swatch one for you guys right now, and I’ll swatch this purpley shade So clearly I’m really not good at looking at my computer screen and swatching so I’m just gonna… So maybe these remind me more of the NYX soft matte lip creams Cuz that’s what it reminds me of like a lip cream, not as much as like a matte liquid lipstick I don’t know how this is gonna dry down. It doesn’t seem like it would be like smudge resistant But I would say it is a high-impact super rich color especially for $6.99 these come in some really really cool shades everything from nudes to a grayish beige There’s also some mauve-y colors in this part of the collection like an eggplant color a deep navy blue So I would definitely give these a shot and check these out I’m actually really interested to try those on. The ones that I have on from the Queen collection feel really good They are like slightly drying, but not like that…You just ate a whole thing of powdered Donuts Type of feel. But I really like stuff that feels like feels really smooth and luxurious on the lips lately I’m just not into all that dry shit. So that is that you guys I hope this video wasn’t overwhelming because that wasn’t my intention, but I really just wanted to break down everything They sent me because it was such a generous package and since I had the opportunity To give you guys my real thoughts on all of these products because covergirl is Rebranding. Their new campaign is “I am What I Make Up and it Seems like they’re taking a whole new approach to their brand And I think that this whole spring collection was really really well done especially for a drugstore brand. My only complaints are Mostly, that a few of the items could have been more inclusive. I’m hoping that more shades will come down the line You know in the powders and in the concealers, but everything that I used on my face today I pretty much love the only thing that I probably wouldn’t care to repurchase would be the brow products I’m really just a brow powder kind of girl, but I definitely recommend Getting your hands on a couple of these products, especially if nothing else, go grab one of those gel Illuminators! So I hope you guys enjoyed this video Let me know in the comments what you think let me know some of your favorite drugstore products I’m getting a lot more into drug store products, so I would love to know what are some of you guys favorites. Also Let us know if you have tried any of this stuff. Were they hits? Were they misses for you? Did you hate them? Did you love them? I’ll have everything linked and listed below. Once again, Thank you to covergirl for this amazing package! Thank you all for tuning in and I will see you in my next video.
