Nanomesh bandages tackling antibiotic resistance

Nanomesh bandages tackling antibiotic resistance

Antibacterial resistance is going to become
a massive problem in the future. so they’re expecting that by 2050 more people will be
dying from antibiotic resistant infections than they will from cancer. So to solve the
problem of antibiotic resistance we’re using very old, uncommon antibiotics and we’re putting
those into nanomesh. These nanomesh are like bandages so you can release these antibiotics
over different period of time to try and treat those infections. These bandages can be used
in third world countries where maybe they don’t have the same access to healthcare that
we do, or out in the field where you could use it in, say, a defence base, so you can
get these antibiotics straight onto the wound as early as possible.
