Physicians Help for Menopause : Alternative Therapies for Menopause

Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell and in
this clip we’re going to talk about menopause and the alternative approaches you can actually
think about using to reduce some of the symptoms of this particular condition. So what are
some of the alternative approaches? What you can also consider is acupuncture or acupressure,
and this is Chinese medicine as well, using Chinese herbs, but look what’s acupuncture.
Basically you’re going to a very expert acupuncturist and he’s going to put very
fine needles at specific parts of your body and this is suppose to increase energy flow,
it’s suppose to increase production of certain hormones in your body. And acupressure is
similar but they’re using pressure points, trigger points along specific parts of your
body to also have that same effect. Now it’s been shown by some studies that you know,
alternative medicine definitely, significantly decreases hot flashes and it decreases anxiety
and stress and these are most of the common complaints that women come to the doctor to
complain about when they are actually in menopause. And it improves mood and sleep so there are
a lot of beneficial affects that you can by choosing alternative medicines. But I always
need to remind you, that if you are ever going to consider any kind of complementary medicine
or alternative approaches to your condition, your medical condition you must go and get
advice and recommendations from a medical professional before you proceed, so that’s
so important. So consider alternative approaches, go and investigate, and a lot of information
you can find on the internet or books out there that will give you knowledge and inform
you and then you can make more decisive decisions about this approach.
