Should I take antibiotics for my gum disease

It may be appropriate to actually use a course
of antibiotics to assist getting rid of this gum infection. The critical thing is the timing
of those antibiotics. If we give you antibiotics at the outset when there’s active infection
the gums do start to heal and they start to tighten up around that root surface. At that
stage there’s infection still down there, there’s calcified deposits of tartar, and
that makes it harder for me to get my instruments down there to clean. Therefore my suggestion
is to consider antibiotics, but after we’ve actually treated all the infection and removed
that tartar.
