The Many Benefits of Withania and Turmeric in Ayurveda | Manuela Boyle

Ty Bollinger: Today we are focusing on two
ayurvedic herbs: withania and turmeric. If you’ve been following us for some time
now, you’re probably familiar with ayurvedic practices and its benefits towards healing
and preventing cancer. Join Dr. Manuela Boyle for an exerpt of her
presentation from last years TTAC Live Event. She’ll give us a brief overview of the many
principles of ayurvedic healing and then dive deeper into how these herbs work synergistically
with your body to promote healing. Manuela Boyle: But, nevertheless, there are
many herbs from Ayurveda that are highly—that are part of my practices. And why herbs? Because they work synergistically together
and apply to those three bodily systems we were just seeing, right? So, this is the only thing, there’s no drugs,
pharmaceutical drugs can do that. Herbal has this multifaceted aspect that can
actually apply and help in fact, restoring balance and don’t forget cancer is a multifaceted
issue. So, herbal are the best you can use in that
regard. So, these are a whole list of herbs with cytotoxic
activity. What does it mean cytotoxic? It means that they can actually kill cancer
in a very selective way. So, in other words, it will not affect the
healthy tissues but it will be selectively toxic to the cancers. And it’s, these are old botanical names;
they can be trapped and found. I use a lot of them in my practice and you
know, a lot of research behind each and every one of them so I only picked a few. But I would like to draw to your attention. Those are, remember, those are 5000-year-old
herbs which, all the time, and especially in the last probably, I don’t know, maybe
10 or 15 years, they have come to the attention of Western system of medicine and researchers. And so, these herbs have been put through
what we call double-blind placebo control trials in settings, and the university picked
them up, published the, and there we go. Here we have them. So, one of them is withania. Withania somnifera is a wonderful herb that
inhibits proliferation of gastric cancer cells but not just this cancer, many others. This one in particular though was researched,
and so I thought to bring it to you. Gastric cancer are deadly cancers, are difficult
cancers to treat. When they are discovered they are quite advanced
and so they deserve a wonderful and attentive system in order to be able to actually reverse
the condition. So here we’re talking about the—not the
whole plant but the extract of the plant. And it was done on human, human, this was
not just an animal model, human model. Gastric carcinoma and what it did, it does
a cell cycle arrest of G2/M phase. What does it mean? It means it can actually block the cancer
cells from developing any further, so it blocks it. So, it’s an anti-metastatic, anti-inflammatory,
and of course it does many other type of activity including, and especially including blocking
the proliferation of those, of those cancer cells. Again, anti-proliferating, again in regard
to osteosarcoma cells. So, this is an in vitro study, but I have
found also in vivo study. Today I’m bringing this to you, osteosarcoma
another difficult cancer and of course quite effective on those as well. This is just to sum it up because I don’t
have a lot time. But just to sum up, have a look at this. This is what, even if you look at the outside,
right? This is the end point. This is really at the end what the withania
somnifera, with this humble, lovely, beautiful herb actually does. And it creates inhibition of oxidative stressor,
so it’s an antioxidant, it’s an activation of tumor suppressive proteins, and so on and
so on and you can continue on. But this is all proven, all documented, all
researched. Here’s what it looks like, right? Is that cute? It’s beautiful. Withania. Another one is turmeric. Who knows about turmeric? Everybody, everybody. Well you know, turmeric deserves a lot of
love because in both traditional medicine, 5,000 years ago, as well as the more recent—they’re
right, it does do something. Well, it does more than something, right? All the curcuminoids, everything. All those extracted from the plant turmeric,
which we also know as Curcuma longa does, has been shown to have a tremendous antiproliferative,
antioxidant, anti-ischemic, anti-cancer and these are all the researchers. I will show the research later on. You can actually read it and follow through. The properties—like I said, it’s been
studied a lot. And so, we have all stages of tumor development,
so it’s not just at the beginning of it, it’s not just when it’s, you know, maybe
Stage 1, Stage 2. We’re talking about Stage 4 metastatic cancers
here. And so, what does it do? It modulates a lot of things. In particular nitric oxide synthetase activity,
epidermal growth factor. There are all sorts of difficult names here,
difficult definitions but basically what it is, it is an anti-metastatic, anti-cancer. Turmeric, well it depends how you get it. You can have it fermented which is a wonderful
idea. You can have it in liquid extract. You can have it even by infusion and so it
depends how, how much you need to use and how far you want to go with that particular
herb but it’s available in various aspects. Okay, once again, great anti-inflammatory
and it does induce apoptosis. This is important: every time you see this
word here, apoptosis, what does it mean? It means it creates, it induces cancer cell
death by implosion. It’s a nice stately and pain free death
that these cancer cells have to go through quite differently from the principle of chemotherapy,
which is explosion, by creating a lot of what we call necrotic type death. So, here we go. And this is another one, so if you look at
curcuma which is turmeric, right? Everything that’s up here, it stops. Everything that’s down here, it helps. It’s quite a clever herb. Do herbs have intelligence? I think so. I think so. Okay. And, it also regulates, it also regulates
cell cycle, right? Cell cycle. It means that if you have cancer and if you
have cancer cells, those cells are crazy; they don’t really follow the rules. They do what they like. They do what they like. But by taking them, these type of herbs, like
turmeric for example, that regulates the cells, it makes this herb a wonderful and potent
preventive type medicine, right? Preventive. So not only curative, not only during, not
only after, but even before. So, it’s a prevention. Try the whole spectrum. We can—like I said, there’s many evidence
that supports all of it. So, then what it looks like, it’s yellow. I, when I’m doing my mixes, my fingers are
usually yellow. That’s okay, it’s a good thing. So, this is turmeric. Many other herbs, I really wanted to bring
to you. And, I’m not saying that the herbs are enough. I’m not advocating that it’s enough and
we don’t have to look at nutrition, we don’t have to look at other type of treatments. We do look at them. Absolutely. Takes more than one thing to conquer cancer,
to get rid of cancer, to move forward. There many things that’s why I have an
amazing team working together. But for me the herbs, they still have a very
special part in the treatment of my patients and I will forever stay with them. I’ve seen it, I’ve seen it in action. I’ve seen reversal of cancers. I’ve seen people getting better. I’ve seen people better years after the
initial diagnosis. So, for me, I’m forever grateful that we
have this possibility. I’m forever grateful to the researchers
who have actually made it possible for us to know this. So, our patients are not used as experimental
but they are used, they are given things that we know have been given great results to others. Charlene Bollinger: We hope you learned a
lot from this video. If you learned something new, please take

  1. The Greece test will test all herbs and chemo’s drugs and finds out what is the most effective product, no more shooting in the dark.. Dr Forsythe in Reno is one of only a few who use the method with outstanding success.
